How To Get What You Want

the mind

Have you ever wondered how some people always seem to be in control?  How they always maintain a calm, controlled attitude towards life?

Then you look at yourself and your wild emotions and it can be a little discouraging.

It’s important we understand that the subconscious mind is governing everything in in our lives.  Everything.

Experts say that 95% or more of our actions are done on auto-pilot.  It’s our subconscious mind that determines our behavior.

It’s the self-image we have of ourself, the beliefs we have of what is true, and the limitations we set on ourself that dictate the type of people we become.

The people that remain in control simply believe that it’s possible to remain in control and they expect to be in control.  Its been said that what we expect to happen to us in our life is generally what we experience.

Stated in another way, the people who remain in control perceive themselves as controlled people; people who have power over their thoughts and feelings.

Napoleon Hill said that the reason man may control his destiny is because he has the power to influence his own subconscious mind.  So, how do we influence our subconscious mind?

Let’s think back to how our subconscious was programmed in the first place…

Environment.  Our subconscious was formed through what we were repeatedly exposed to in the outer world when we were youngsters.  That’s why most people think just like their parents, and often get the same results that their parents got.

subconscious mind

So, how do we change it?

The same way.  By putting yourself in a different environment you will be influenced differently, thus think differently.  The dominant thoughts you hold in your conscious mind always make it to your subconscious mind.  The secret to forming the subconscious mind is by playing a perfectly legitimate trick on it by self-suggesting beliefs you want imbedded.

For example, let’s say you want more control over your emotions.

You should tell yourself every day “I am in control.” The mere speaking of these words will render no appreciable results unless you become emotionally involved with the attainment of whatever it is you’re aiming for.  You must say the words like you really believe you are in possession of that which you want.

To add to this, vividly picture yourself in your mind being in control. Run through scenarios in your mind having control.  Paint beautiful pictures in your mind until you know exactly what it looks like to have it is a part of you.

By doing this over and over again you will be making impressions on your subconscious mind, the same as a hypnotherapist would in one of their therapy sessions.  Contrary to the conscious mind, the subconscious has no ability to reject thoughts.  It must accept anything that is handed over to it from the conscious mind over and over again in a spirit belief.

It may seem and feel impractical at first, but don’t let this distract you.  Follow the process in good faith and there will be a time where a whole new universe of power unfolds to you.

Don’t be discouraged if you don’t see results immediately.  This is a lifelong process and skill that can bring to you anything you can conceive of.

The power to influence your own subconscious mind effectively is the most powerful skill that one can possess, hands down.  Learn to do this and you will be the real master of your fate.

Remember that this whole idea revolves around the concept of making yourself believe what you desire to believe, because you believe it is possible to do so, and that it is your beliefs that determines the results you get in your life.

This also means that you should be conscious of all other forms of information that comes in to your conscious mind.  If you prefer an optimistic subconscious mind, you should shield away any negativity in your life.

Picture your conscious mind as the outer guard that you use as a tool to prevent any negativity from reaching your subconscious.

I recommend taking a look at all areas of your life and getting really clear on what it is you really desire.  What do you really want?

Focus in on it and make yourself believe you will achieve it.  Really believe it.  Picture yourself already in possession of what you want.

I encourage you to do your own research.  Don’t take some random bloggers word for you.  Read books that talk about the power of the subconscious mind, study people who understand these laws, dedicate yourself to learning how your mind operates.  If you want to take control of any aspect of your life you must understand your own psychology.

It’s Only Temporary

this too shall passYo, take a good long look at that picture.  What do you get out of it?

Here’s my take.

Storms are a part of nature’s course here on Planet Earth, agreed?

I’m of the belief that storms are just as much a part of the cycle in the process of our spiritual and financial growth as they are in the weather.  Can’t know real happiness until you’ve experienced sadness, no?  I think we exist through contract, or polarity – a world of opposites and everything in between.  You cannot know hot without knowing cold.

The next time you feel like you’re falling in to a rut or are having a bad day, I think it will help you out if you can tell yourself that it’s actually necessary to have those days, too.  You can learn from them!

And just like the storms, the flood of negative emotions, self pity, and pessimism will all pass.  There is always light at the end of the tunnel.

Milky Chance, a German folk duo, with influencesmilky chance of electronica and reggae, put it best in their latest album, “Sadnecessary.”

After watching an interview of the two of them and hearing them reflect back on it, it seems they, too, believe you can’t have happiness without temporary sadness.  Hence, the title, sadness is equally as necessary!

Grant Cardone once said in one of his talk shows that he writes his goals down on three occasions..

Once in the morning.  Once before he goes to sleep.  And when he feels down.

What’s your remedy for dealing with the dips in the road?  I think it’s important to have some sort of focal point to get your head on right again.

I meditate and visualize my best self, my ideal world, and what I want to happen to me.  I try my best to make myself feel like I already have all those things I’m visualizing, like I’m literally living that life.  Also I thank god for the smack in the face, it’s only making my stronger.  Like we were talking about in my Life’s Struggles post, the harder the situation is, the bigger the return.

Don’t be discouraged when you have these moments, it is simply part of life.  Prove to the universe itself how in control you really are, don’t let it sway you too far.  Stay in control! Easier said than done, I know.

I know this was short, but I thought it was worth mentioning.  Thanks for tuning in, everyone.

Desire, What’s Good With It?

desireNapoleon Hill.  Get to know him, seriously.

If you haven’t already read Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon hill, it’s a must.  Simply put, if you are looking for the real secrets to success, read this book – you will not be let down.

That book has probably produced more millionaires than any other book.  Copyrighted in 1937, age doesn’t matter.  The truth never changes.  Remember that, words change, the truth remains the same.

That quote was taken from the first chapter in the book on desire.

“The starting point of all achievement is desire.  Keep this constantly in mind.  Weak desire brings weak results, just as a small amount of fire brings a small amount of heat.”

If your desire is weak, that means you aren’t feeling motivated, which means you probably aren’t doing anything.  Constantly adding fuel and demanding a bigger and bigger desire of yourself is key to sticking with something.

I have a friend who runs a tree removal service in Rockford and he lives this to the core.  He grew his business from the ground up, with no business experience, all by himself.  His desire to run a huge, successful business was so great that he made quantum leaps, surpassing all of his competitors (who have been operating in the area for decades), in a period of a few short years.

It just goes to show, if your desire for anything is big enough, it’s going to push you to do the necessary things to get where you want to be.  In essence, a big enough desire is really the only thing you need in order to succeed at anything.

It’s not intelligence.  It’s not GPA.  It’s not your genes.  It’s not other people.  It’s not your current circumstances.  It’s about YOU and your drive to go out and get what you want.

Think of plants.

They take time to grow.  They require attention and care.  If you neglect them and put them in the wrong environment, they probably won’t prosper.

Now think of your thoughts.

They too, grow.  They grow just like your body grows, just like plants grow.  Give your ideas constant attention and care.  I once heard someone say that you should treat your thoughts like your children, wise words.  They too, require time and a sufficient environment (a healthy frame of mind).

Your mind is a garden, grow it.  You raise your thoughts, this is how it works, quite literally.

You got a dream?  Organize plans in your mind.  Spend time thinking constructively.  The right thoughts will come.  And in the meantime, your desire will continue to grow.  The more time and attention you give it, the bigger your desire becomes – fact.

The ultimate state of mind is an obsession.  It’s funny, we have such a negative connotation associated with the word “obsession.”  It’s nothing to hate on, the greatest, most well-known people to ever lived were only such giants because they followed through on their obsessions.

Jimi Hendrix didn’t become one of the biggest influences on the world through mere lack of desire.  He was OBSESSED with music.  He wanted to do nothing, but play music in front of large crowds.  He was total tunnel vision, and that’s why he is remembered as the biggest musical influences to ever live.

You’ll probably get ridiculed for being obsessed.  That’s a sure sign you’re on track.  If you haven’t fully committed to what you’re after, you aren’t obsessed.  And trust me, if you don’t have haters, you ain’t popping, boy!

If you want everyone to know you, if you want to shine, accept the fact that you’re going to have HEAPS of haters.  Let them hate and stay focused on what matters for yourself.

Message of the Day – Don’t Let Idiots Ruin Your Day

Here’s the deal guys. . I don’t like to be hash, I don’t like to judge people, I’m a nice guy. But. .

There are clueless people out there who I choose dont let idiots ruin your daynot to let influence me – I call them idiots.  It wasn’t that long ago that I was an idiot.  Everyone goes through it, not everyone makes it out.

We all have old friends who don’t seem to be progressing, they just kind of do the same things over and over again, then complain that they aren’t getting results.  Or they blame the system for their failures, their teachers for their grades, their job for their depression, the 1% for their poverty, you know who I’m talking about.  I’m talking about ignorant people.

I don’t hate ignorant people, or anyone for that matter, but I avoid them at all costs.  Why?

Because they aren’t helping me.  They aren’t helping you.  They aren’t helping themselves.  I sometimes call them energy suckers.

I encourage you to rise above the noise and be conscious of who you take advice and who you are influenced by.

The reason I wrote this article is because I see how people, and I’m no exception, think they aren’t influenced by negative people (negative, idiots, ignorant people, they’re all synonyms).

You absolutely are influenced by the people you’re with or pay any attention to – sometimes you’re just not consciously aware of it.  It’s just what happens when a positive energy gets in the presence of a negative energy – it doesn’t feel right.  You can just feel how bad you two are for each other.

People who complain, people who make excuses, people who are bored, they ain’t helping you expand, bro!  Don’t fear letting go of the people who aren’t serving you.  You aren’t being selfish, you’re just being wise.  And yes, they will probably criticize you for your decision to stay away.  They’ve just got a low self esteem and secretly envy you, it’s true.

“If you’re the smartest one in your group, you need to find a new group.” – FACT.

Once you feel someone’s vibe and it’s not matching yours, or you don’t enjoy it, and you want to get away from them, GET AWAY FROM THEM. This is how we should be living, based off what we feel.  I think we must feel our way through life.  Feelings, emotions, vibes don’t lie.  It’s the universe’s way of communicating with you.

Maybe that sounds too far out, but it’s absolutely what I believe.  I understand that if I want to be great I need to surround myself with great people, people who can teach me what they know, people who are driven and on the grind every day.  This is what gets me going.  Why should I lower my frequency just to please a handful of old friends who aren’t motivated? I shouldn’t.

I was once at a point where I started to take these energetic concepts more seriously, but I just didn’t have that group of people to get around that were going to help me grow.  That was the hardest thing for me, attracting the right people in to my life who can help me, and that I can help.

That’s another thing – it’s mutual.  I’m not saying to use people.  I’m saying you should help them just as much as they are helping you, otherwise you’re just leaching!

And if your mentor is really great, he’ll get satisfaction just from the fact that he’s helping you succeed.  The wise man knows that his mission is to help as many people as he can.  The wise man understands that you will only receive in direct proportion to how much you can give others.

Word of the day – pick your group wisely.  Don’t let energy vampires suck the energy or drive out of you.  Hang out with the people who challenge you, who want to see you grow and expand into an actualized being, full of love and light to offer the world.

Do whatever it takes to get around this special group of people that are going to assist you.  It may require you to get really bold and to know exactly what you want out of life.  Adopt a definite purpose and a definite knowing of the person you want to become – the right people will naturally come in to your life.

I wish you the best, I know you’re going to make it happen.

Procrastination Vs. Just Do It

We all know people who procrastinate, we all know that we, ourselves have fallen victim to procrastination.  The psychology behind procrastination is kind of funny.  First let’s take a look at this photo I found and changed to my desktop wallpaper photo.

your future

“Your future is created by what you do today, not tomorrow.”

It is so damn easy to put things off.  But, it can also be so damn easy to just do the things we so often put off.

Jim Rohn often said that “what’s easy to do is easy not to do,” and it’s true.  Something as simple as exercising once a day is so simple, yet just a small percentage of people have the will to do it.

The the idea behind procrastination looks like this:

I’m going to put off what I should do right now, in order to feel better now, but feel swamped later.  And later tends to never come.  It’s a vicious, unproductive, uninspiring cycle that can be tough to break for many people.

I think the best thing to do is to bring awareness to the problem.  View it objectively, really look at what you’re doing and see how destructive the habit is.  Procrastination stops so many of us from doing things that are worthwhile.  The thought of doing that some thing is so agonizing that we make up excuses for ourselves not to do it until later.

Get in the habit of moving straight in to action.  Get in the habit of getting shit done! Set yourself a daily checklist if you have to, make sure you’re doing daily tasks that are going to improve the quality of your tomorrow.

Sooner than later it’s going to feel great to be productive, you’re going to feel empty inside if you’re not keeping up to speed with yourself and getting things done – it’s true, this happens.  Being lazy simply won’t fly anymore.

Just like me with this blog: I could dread writing long posts and doing articles on various topics, and put it off until no end.  But instead I try to be proactive about it, make it fun, and write about things that inspire me and can potentially help other people, which is my main goal!

Gotta do the laundry? Do it.  Don’t moan and groan over the tasks that life calls for – just hurdle the obstacles as efficiently as you can all day long.  Soon you’re going to be thoroughly impressed by yourself and the amount of stuff you can get done in a single day.

Do today what your future self will thank you for.

The hardest thing about doing something great is starting.  I challenge you to start a new habit today that you know is going to be of serious benefit to you in your life for years to come.

Whether it’s a daily meditation habit, a daily yoga or exercise routine, or something small like writing your goals down twice a day – DO IT.

It may seem easy, but eventually there will be a time where you want to throw in the towel and say “I don’t have time,” or “I’ll be sure to do it tomorrow.”

When that happens – it’s normal.  But don’t fall victim to it.  Hone in on your will power and push through.  If you can do it when you don’t want to do it, it’ll be effortless to do when you do want to.  Those are the moments you need to be most certain you do the thing you want to habitualize.

Be the one in control.  That’s my two cents for this post.  Be the one in control.  Because ultimately, you are the captain, you are the artist of your creation.  What you do today does impact your tomorrow, and it’s nobody’s responsibility, but your own to do the right things.

You are worthy of greatness, will you realize it?

Awesome Take on Life’s Struggles

Screen Shot 2016-04-14 at 12.20.07 PM

“A smooth sea never made a skilled sailor.”

I don’t know who said that, but that man or woman saw the light.

It’s so dang true.  The hardest things that we go through in life are always the most beneficial and conducive to our personal growth.  The challenges don’t have to be avoided, they should be embraced.  I could think of fifty examples where this holds true.  Let’s take this one:

You’ve been called upon to give a speech to a large group of people.  If you haven’t done a number of speaking arrangements in the past and consider yourself experienced, you probably felt a shadow of fear take you over when you heard you’re going to be speaking; that’s normal.

Stage fright is something that happens to almost everyone at some point in their speaking careers.  And just the thought of talking to a group of 20 people can make some of us cringe.  All those eyeballs fixated on you can feel like so much pressure!

Anyway, you prepare your speech, and it’s the night of the arrangement.  Just before it’s time to talk you really start feeling the nerves!  Anxiety builds, and you feel less confident than you were a week ago.

Now you’re up there, gasping for air, sweating your face off, throat clenched, and you want to run away.  But you don’t.

You give the speech, as hard as it was, you did it.  By the time you finished you were so grateful that it was over that you felt happy just to be alive.  That’s the thing, you are alive!  You survived the storm.  You made it.

Having the knowledge you have now, that your performance can be rock-bottom terrible, and you will still survive, your next speech probably won’t be so bad.  You’ve already seen how bad the weather can be, and you know you can make it through.  You now feel more confident, more courageous, more daring to do the things you once feared.

Now you feel drawn towards the things you once feared.  You know that this is where the real growth is; OUTSIDE YOUR COMFORT ZONE.  In this case, it was almost unbearably uncomfortable, just what you needed.

Be grateful for the hardships you face, they’re helping you in ways you don’t even realize.  For every seemingly terrible circumstance, there’s an equal and opposite virtue to take away from it.  In this case it might have been self love.  You now have a greater degree of love and respect for your own self, which causes you to put your ego aside and start to risk who you thought you were.

Let it all go, let it all be, starve your fear – don’t feed it.  Something makes you uncomfortable? Dive in to it.  Something makes you scared? Dive in to it.

It seems so radical, but the most free people on this planet understand this concept.  If you really want to free yourself from limitations, destructive beliefs about yourself, and lies, then you need to get bold about your actions and say “I’ve had enough.  I’m going to do whatever it takes to break this ignorant habit I’ve got going on.”

Adopt that mindset and there will be nothing that can stand in front of you.  Don’t take my word for it, look at the most successful people on Earth – they’re the same people who risked the most.
